1976 World Invitational
Tennis Classic
 

The World Invitational Tennis Classic was held at Sea Pines Racquet Club on Hilton Head Island from 1973 to 1978 and telecast from 1974 to 1979.  Four women and four men competed in singles, doubles and mixed.  Prize money was awarded according to each player's final standings. Matches were taped in the fall and aired on television the following spring.

At the World Invitational in 1975 (aired in 1976), Rosie played doubles with Chris Evert for the first time.  Rosie and Chris would become one of the top doubles teams on the 1977 Virginia Slims circuit, winning three titles in a row.

In this match, Rosie and Chris are playing against Virginia Wade and Evonne Goolagong.

Sea Pines Racquet Club was where Rosie won the inaugural Family Circle Cup in 1973.  At the time, the Family Circle Cup was the richest event in women's tennis.
