Rosie Casals Match Highlights

1975 US Open
Women's Doubles Final

From World Tennis, November 1975:

It is a sad but seemingly inevitable fate of the doubles competitions to receive less than their due share of the purse and press coverage.  On the new Har Tru at Forest Hills, this overshadowing was all the more regrettable since doubles on the slower surface was by far the most exciting and fun tennis to watch during the championships.  The women's doubles final alone had more flair, variety of shot and breathtaking exchanges than 90% of the singles matches.  Virginia Wade and Margaret Court finally grabbed that tantalizing contest from Rosie Casals and Billie Jean King 7-5 2-6 7-6.  The whole match, up to and including the 7-5 tiebreaker, was played with a grit, humor and pace which told more about the character of the four players than about the prize money (both the men's and women's doubles purses added up to a paltry one-ninth of the singles).

The clip in the top screen starts with Rosie serving at 4-5 in the third set, and also includes the following game with Wade serving.

The clip in the bottom screen shows Billie Jean serving to stay in the match at 5-6, which sets up the tiebreak.
